Can I use an MX-800 cable for a Pronto TSU6000?

No. The pin outs are reversed on the Pronto cable. You'd need a null adapter with the MX-800 cable.

What is a null adapter??
So what needs to be changed? Just the two tip connections reversed or is the ground different too? Is there a pinout diagram somewhere or a how to make your own cable like for the URC cable?

If you cut the cable and splice the white and red's to each other, it'll work for a pronto.

Ground is the same on both cables, but you have to reverse the other two conductors as 8ate8 mentioned. Here's the pin out diagram for the Pronto: [Link: remotecentral.com]

If you don't want to cut the cable, I've heard of some people using DB9 null adapters to reverse the pin out. I've never used one myself. Do a search for "db9 null modem adapter" on your favorite search engine.

If you're good with a soldering iron you can even make your own null jumper cable on the 3.5mm jack side using a few parts from Radio Shack.

Since my past few motherboards have only had one serial port, and I still need both Pronto and URC-style cables and don't want to be fiddling around behind the case, I went this route and it's worked out well.

Thanks. No prpblem making an adapter. This is what I will do as I already have both com ports in use with my MX-850 cable and another one to my B&K processor.
